Michelle LaFrance is a Doctoral Candidate in English at the University of Washington. Her interests include the socio-political operations of knowledge production and the rise of disciplinary structures in the modern research university. Her dissertation work considers the impact of recent movements in learning assessment and critical pedagogy, and the organization of knowledge in English departments. When not teaching in the UW English Department, she is a documentary film-maker and Celtic language activist.
